This blog will complement and celebrate activities described elsewhere on the site. Remaining mindful to what's happening in the moment and the vision of the Society, the Shake-a-Paw blog will endeavour to answer FAQs and provide detailed information about the program both in the classroom and outside it.
Since our first dog trainer, Catherine Adams, volunteer extraordinaire! decided to pursue other things, Jan Dawson has been working on getting certification as a dog trainer with Animal Behavior College. This has meant hundreds of hours of work on courses and practicums under certified dog trainers. This training is valuable in adding to Jan's store of skills and knowledge learned from several years of fostering and adopting several dogs into her home. Jan is hoping to be finished by the end of the year and we are looking forward to running another pilot program for 2 more youth-dog teams in a more central location in Kelowna.
