Dr. Kim Dawson, Guest Speaker, Lifeline Canada Foundation 2nd annual Gala Dinner, Manteo Resort, Kelowna, BC, Canada
I was very pleased to be invited by Liane Weber, CEO of Lifeline Canada Foundation, to speak at this special event on September 9, 2017. In the video now available of this talk, I honor those who have completed suicide, those who somehow get through suicidal impulses and hard times, and those who work to prevent depression and suicide. The talk also honors dogs, especially the therapeutic impacts of learning to train dogs and just being with dogs. After telling my personal story of how I came to this work, I describe the Mary Ellen Humane Education Society's Shake-a-Paw program which was inspired by our son and one of our pet dogs, Dee-Dee. Photos and video of Dee can be found in the dog gallery at maryellenhumaneeducationsociety.org
